Hunting Information

Some of the most frequently asked questions answered
When is the best time to hunt?

We hunt throughout the year but in general the winter times are better, from late April to end August. The days are cooler and the bush makes for good hunting conditions. For some of our exotic species like Fallow Deer, we usually prefer hunting them earlier in the year from mid-January to end-April. Sheep hunting is done throughout the year including some of the bigger deer species.

Will I get all the animals I wish to hunt while on Safari?

It is very rare that you won't get the opportunity to hunt all the animals that you are after. We keep a close eye one all our concessions and the number of game that we have. Should a certain animal not be available for any reason whatsoever, you will not pay for it, or if you want, we can substitute it with another animal in the same price range.

Should I bring my own rifle?

We do prefer that you bring your own rifle but we have a range of calibers available for you to rent. If you do decide to bring your rifle, please make sure that you are comfortable with it but we will sight-in the rifles before the Safari starts. In general, a .30 calibre or 300 Win Mag for plains game is a good choice. For dangerous game the legal minimum calibre is .375.

Can I change my mind about the animals I want to hunt?

You will only be charged for the animals that you hunt or wound. In the case of a packaged hunt, you can substitute the animal with one in the same or lower prices range because the prices are already reduced. We can also build you a custom or bespoke hunting package that will suite your requirements and needs.

It can be anything from 70 yards up to 250 yards depending on the terrain where we hunt or the type of animal.

How many hunters can you accommodate?

We can accommodate larger groups up to 14 people depending on the lodge where we hunt, but we have seen that groups between 4 - 6 people works well. When the group is bigger, we usually split up and hunt on different properties or different parts of the concession during the day and meet up again in the afternoon or evening.
